Ernest C. "Pop Pop" Hosti

Tybee Island - Ernest C. "Pop Pop" Hosti, 91, of Tybee Island died Monday, May 13, 2013 at Memorial University Medical Center. He was born in Savannah, son of Henry Leo and Helen Hohnerlein Hosti. He attended Marist School for Boys and was a former communicant of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Mr. Hosti was retired as a supervisor from Union Camp Corporation after 33 years of service. He moved to Tybee Island in 1955 where he was a communicant of St. Michael's Catholic Church, served as a Lector and a member of the Men's Club. Mr. Hosti served on the Tybee Island City Council, a member of the Tybee Island Optimist Club, Tybee Island Jaycees, Tuesday Night Supper Club and a volunteer with the Social Apostolate. Affectionately known for many years to everyone on the Island as "Pop Pop" or Uncle Ernest, he was the last surviving sibling of five brothers and three sisters. Other than his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lee Hosti and grandson, Stephen Randolph Boyd.

Surviving are his children, Sandra Cornelius David, Diane Ring David, Snooky Cannady Barney, Karin Hogan Jack, Michael Hosti Debbie, Betty Jayne Hendrix Steve, Ann Carol Trammell Tom, Angel King Vincent all of Tybee Island; 21 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, 24 step great grandchildren, 14 step great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Abruzzio and Faye Hosti; longtime companion, Doris Hoppe; special friend, Amorette "Lee" Zittrauer; his eighth daughter, Johanna Remeta; many nieces, nephews and his beloved pet, Beau Hosti.

Visitation: 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel with a Vigil Service and Eulogy at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2013 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Thomas Peyton, Celebrant.

Burial: Bonaventure Cemetery.
